Just wanted to send out my first post as a real, live Norbertine!! 🙂 All these months of counting down has finally ended and I am officially in the Novitiate.
Last Friday was the celebration of the Feast of St. Norbert at St. Norbert Abbey and as a part of the celebration, Vespers included my vestition. Along with my classmate, Jacob, we both received the white Norbertine habit. (Pictures will be coming soon) and started our journey into the Novitiate.
On Saturday morning we drove down to Chicago with our formator, Fr. David. Our novitiate is spent at the Holy Spirit House of Studies. It is a beautiful old home in the Kenwood neighborhood right next to the famous Hyde Park neighborhood. (We are neighbors to President Obama.)
Our classes start on Thursday morning with Spanish class and a class on the Order. We have some books to read and plenty of time to think and reflect on what we read. Also, beginning next week we begin a weekly program called Inter-Community Novitiate (ICN). We meet once a week to discuss a variety of topics concerning the formation of ourselves, as religious.
We also have to split up the house duties, so on Thursday, I will be cooking for the first time this year. I’m planning on making Tater Tot Casserole. Pray for me that it doesn’t come out burnt.
Well, I think that’s it for now. Stay tuned for more updates and pictures to be forthcoming. Pray for us here in Chicago!!
